A separate infrared camera films the person on the dark side's reaction; the two images are combined in post-production. This is done, in part, by using video editing software to fade the infrared image of the person being revealed to black before they are illuminated, then seamlessly showing the color image of the person being revealed as it is faded in and out. The show culminates with each contestant choosing whether to meet another on the balcony of the house. The contestant will go to the balcony and wait for his or her prospective partner to join him or her.

Joining the other on the balcony signifies that the contestants both want to pursue a relationship; exiting the house through the front door signifies that they do not want to pursue a relationship. Cameras are set up to show both the meeting balcony and the front door. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Retrieved 25 August Retrieved from " https: Views Read Edit View history. Editorial Reviews Review It is like one of the great sitcoms, where the characters are deeper than the gags and there is a universal message beneath the custard pie. I was thoroughly entertained throughout. Product details File Size: Sorted Publishing; 1 edition November 24, Publication Date: November 24, Sold by: Share your thoughts with other customers. At the outset, Jason is a bit much and the reader might very well wonder if an entire novel following his misadventures isn't going to be a bridge too far. We quickly begin to sympathize with and then root for this poor soul as he pulls himself together, in fits and starts, and begins to succeed in sorting himself out.

In the process we meet an entertaining cast of primary secondary characters and secondary secondary characters who aid or frustrate Jason as he treks along his path of enlightenment. The main supporting characters provide bracing reality checks and get some of the best lines, although the strongest current is Jason's commentary on his own sad state. A weird combination of insight and dense self-deception informs Jason's narrative, and part of the enjoyment is in staying a step ahead of Jason as he teeters on the edge.

Can you have a very funny, insightful book about every man's yearning for love and happiness, and a bit of cod? Please note that I found this book a while ago while browsing Amazon Kindle freebies. It is currently a kindleunlimited choice. I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book. One person found this helpful. I'm not really sure how I came across this book when I was browsing titles.

I'm usually not into romantic comedies, but the subtitle of this book caught my eye and I decided to give it a chance. It wasn't perfect, but I'm glad I gave it a try. Dating in the Dark is about a man named Jason. He has never had much luck with women, partly because he is considered ugly and short but not quite short enough to be a little person! He reasons that only a woman who couldn't see him could love him, so he decides to try something different--he joins a disabled dating site and pretends to be blind in an effort to meet a blind woman.

Jason gets the attention of a woman named Emma, but how long can he keep up his charade?

The plot of this book was really unique. It was quite funny at times, and other times it was kind of sad.

  5. Jason was annoying at first, but he grew on me as the book went along, and I ended up liking him quite a bit. The only thing that brought the rating down for me was the fact that some parts of the story didn't seem as deep as they should have been probably because it was written as a rom-com and not a terribly serious story. I pretty much guessed what the ending was going to be as soon as I started reading, but I hoped it would turn out to be a bit more complicated that what I guessed--it didn't, but that's okay because it was still a good read.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who like funny stories with a good heart. I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would when I first began to read it.

It's a good story -- looking for love in a number of wrong places then finding the right place to look and finding what he was looking for -- although the female love interest is not quite believable in her breadth of understanding, her ease at accepting and forgiving, and her rapid healing. She's just too good. I am also impressed by the friendship between the narrator and the man with whom he has been friends since childhood. Now, in their early 30's, their tie seems unbreakable because it is chosen again and again and because their understanding of each other is so nuanced.

I recommend the book to someone with time to read for relaxation.
